Dead Throne

An open world adventure game with a deep and engaging lore behind it!

My Thoughts

Although this is one of the more expensive kickstarter games, at about $112, but it looks like you'll be getting plenty for the price. The game is a modular world built out of large hexagons that represent different ecosystems, each with unique encounters. Dead Throne is designed and published by the three brothers that started SharkeeGames Ltd.

Dead Thrones boasts a large player range of 1-7. The single player game looks like it might be a little forced, but I haven't tried it yet, so don't take my word for it. Check out their kickstarter page here.

This is definitely a large game, but the creators are using an innovative solution to keep your table uncluttered. The box itself is an organizer for the market, where you can buy new items, as well as slots for 7 different decks for easy access.

Another interesting rule that this game uses is something the creators call the 4+ Rule, which is used to help keep the game moving when there are more than 4 players. This rule creates a sort of bubble around the players that are in combat against each other. The rest of the table skips those player's turns until the battle is over. I think this is a pretty interesting concept, it incentivizes acting quickly during battles, because everyone else is potentially still upgrading their power through questing. I want to see this rule in action when I get my copy next January.

Dead Throne is already funded and is working its way through a lot of stretch goals. The campaign has a little too many stretch goals in my opinion, but the important ones (card tray, card stands and miniatures) were put in the beginning and have already been unlocked, so I can't complain too much.
